It has been a funny year and watching my middle son queuing COVID style for his final middle school exam I realise how tough it has been.
To keep numbers down and avoid crowds his time was 6pm in the evening. One aural exam in front of an exam commission made up of his regular teachers to discuss a mini thesis. Having chosen a theme each student had to prepare arguments from each subject around that theme.
I have discovered with both sons that my role as parent is to be there but to be invisible and silent as the tension builds before he is called in.
I don’t think my parents were even around back in the UK at exam time as we had all ours during regular school hours.
The end of the exam means a massive release of tension and now those endless summer holidays. Next stop high school.
