You don’t have to go very far in this unique city to find a film crew at work, whether it be a Tom Cruise blockbuster or an Italian mini-series. But have you looked for locations from the past?
Mauro D’Avino’s 2012 “Roma si gira” covers films made in the 40s, 50s and 60s and with the care of a surgeon pinpoints locations almost buried under half a century of reconstruction.
With photo comparisons and brief plot descriptions you could easily put this in your pocket and walk around the city.
And indeed I do. The picture above is not actually, as far as I am aware, the location of anything but it is the surprising almost bucolic view that you can stumble upon when you walk where you usually drive.
